On a wool sock walk, you’ll experience the winter forest through all your senses. Moving in soft wool socks makes each step gentle and quiet, and opens the mind to the surrounding nature. You can feel the surface of the snow beneath your feet — almost like walking barefoot, yet warm and comfortable.

Although this walk can be enjoyed during the day, it is at its most enchanting around sunset and into the blue hour. Soft lanterns accompany us, giving just enough light to guide the way while leaving space for silence, darkness and mystery.

A story-based outdoor challenge for groups

An old sage of Koli is about to set off on a long journey, but his magical powers have been scattered across the forests of Koli. Now he needs your help to gather them back together.

The Sage's Trail is a story-based outdoor challenge where the group divides into smaller teams and follows a trail of different tasks. Along the way, the teams face challenges that put their observation skills, teamwork, creativity and ingenuity to the test.

The journey calls for cooperation, clever thinking and looking at things from a new perspective – but no particular level of fitness or previous experience is required.

The Sage's Trail is available on request during the snow-free season for groups of 10–40 people. The programme takes around two hours and is particularly well suited to workplace teams, recreation days and other groups looking for something fun to do together.

Let your imagination take shape in the snowy landscapes of Koli. During this guided snow sculpting experience, we transform blocks of packed snow into woodland animals, forest spirits or imaginative winter creatures using simple, safe tools.

Inspired by Koli’s nature, ancient beliefs and local stories, the experience combines creativity with a relaxed time outdoors. Working together in the quiet winter landscape creates a playful atmosphere where ideas come naturally.

At the end, we admire the finished sculptures together and capture a few photos before leaving them to become part of the winter landscape.

Let your imagination run wild in the nature of Koli! In this guided land art workshop, we draw inspiration from the plants, animals and mythical creatures of Koli and create our own forest creatures using natural materials found around us.

Cones, branches, leaves, stones and other treasures of the forest take on new forms in artworks created in small groups. Inspiration comes from the many creatures of Koli with their curious Finnish names, as well as the nature spirits known in old Finnish folklore.

The finished creations are left in the forest, where wind, rain and the changing seasons will gradually transform them. The workshop combines time spent outdoors, imagination and creating something together.

The land art workshop takes place outside Koli National Park, either in the client's own woodland or in a forest near Kolin Runo, just a short walk away.

Discover the region with a local guide while travelling from Joensuu to Koli or around Lake Pielinen. Along the way, stories of local nature and forests, history and everyday life bring another layer to the landscapes passing by the window.

The guiding is tailored to the group’s route and interests and can also include short walks and stops along the way.
